Jag älskar fortfarande i princip varje låt det här bandet spelade in. Och det som gör The Bristles speciellt är att man främst hämtade sina influenser från band som GBH, Exploited, Partisans och Blitz, man skulle kunna kalla det den brittiska bushellscenen. Man var tidiga med huliganrefränger och skrev texter om "punks and skins unite". Det fanns inte många sådana här band i Sverige då. Dessutom författade man en av mina absoluta favorittexter:

Punkpoesi!!!

Michael "Svegis" Svegbrandt har gjort ett styvt jobb när han sammanställt den här förträffliga boxen för japanska MCRs räkning. Här finns så vitt jag vet allt Landskronapunksen spelade in från 1982 till 1985, singlarna "Don't give up" och "Boys will be boys", kassetten "Ban from the punkshops", en liveinspelning från Ultrahuset plus spår från diverse samlingsplattor - exempelvis medverkade The Bristles på Maximum Rocknrolls klassiska kompilation "Welcome to 1984".
Det är naturligtvis hur fett som helst.

Men det som verkligen tänder mig på alla cylindrar är de fyra sista spåren på andra plattan. "Suckers", "Freedom", "Get out of my way" och "Looking back" är bandets allra sista inspelning, från 1985, och var tänkt att bli The Bristles tredje singel. Men de ständiga bråken mellan sångaren Puma och Svegis kom emellan och bandet splittrades. Det är första gången jag hör de här låtarna och jag bedåras av den snygga Blitz-punken. Fantastisk!

På dvd:n finns två livekonserter från Landskrona 1983 och 1984 och jag förvånas över att kvaliteten är så pass bra, spelningarna i sig är dock mer kul än bra.
Sammantaget är det här en enastående dokumentation över ett väldigt speciellt svenskt punkband, det enda jag egentligen saknar är en längre text om fenoment The Bristles - då hade det varit perfekt!
